Habitat Skateboards was founded in 2000 by Joe Castrucci and Brennan Conroy. It emerged as an offshoot of influential skateboard brand Alien Workshop.

Habitat is renowned for its quality skateboards and stylish apparel. The brand’s roots lie in street skating and the creation of captivating skateboard films. Their visuals and art direction have always been guided by classic graphic design principles. As Joe Castrucci himself puts it, "We are inspired by our team and the intersection of skateboarding, art, and the natural world".

Habitat’s team riders have become mainstays of modern street skating. Some notable Habitat team members include: Fred Gall, Kerry Getz, Tim O’Connor, Rob Pluhowski, Danny Garcia, Brian Wenning, Mark Appleyard, Stefan Janoski, Ed Selego, Raymond Molinar, Silas Baxter-Neal, Austyn Gillette, Marius Syvanen, Guru Khalsa, Al Davis, Steve Durante, Josh Matthews, Flo Mirtain, Kevin Lowry, Zac Coyne, Kaue Cossa, Sean Evans, Jiro Platt,

For over three decades, Habitat and Alien Workshop have been committed to evolving skateboarding and celebrating individualism within the scene. Together, they are known as “The Sovereign Sect,"  independently owned and operated from their headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.

"Everyone killed it, I can't believe how good Romel Torres is, absolutely mind blowing."

"I remember the team back when you started - O'connor, Getz, Gall, Appleyard, Pluhowski, (edit:  Garcia & Wenning of course) - massive powerhouse of style, creativity, & an awesome & og soundtrack with every video. The riders may have changed over the years but it's always been the same greatness, inc the new riders who joined who seem to fit so perfectly. I always look forward to a new Habitat vid coz know that its gonna blow me away! Wish you still made your decks at PS Stix tho. Don't ever change Habitat, coz your style is timeless!!"

"This is more than a skate video. This is a spiritual and cultural epitome of what skateboarding is that only true skateboarders can appreciate. This video really incorporates and promotes the artistry of the sport."

"This was the first skate video i ever bought in 2nd grade..remember going with my mom to get it from the skateshop. I remember her asking the guy at the register what “suggestive content” meant on the other videos haha and if he had a video that was appropriate for a kid. He recommended Mosaic. Probably watched this over a hundred times before we went to skate. Janoskis part was always on repeat and such an inspiration to learn treflips. What a great video!"
