Greg Lutzka: From Midwest Roots to Skateboarding Glory

When it comes to skateboarding legends, Greg Lutzka is a name that resonates deeply within the skateboarding community. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Greg’s journey from the icy streets of the Midwest to the sun-soaked skate parks of Southern California is as inspiring as it is remarkable.

A Humble Beginning

Greg was born on April 20, 1985, and like many kids growing up in Wisconsin, his first love was ice skating, which he started at the tender age of two. Ice hockey followed soon after, and the fast-paced, adrenaline-filled sport became a huge part of his life. However, at age nine, a friend introduced him to skateboarding—a sport that would eventually define him. By 12, Greg had traded in his hockey stick for a skateboard, embarking on a journey that would turn his passion into a profession.

From Hometown Hero to Global Star

Greg’s raw talent didn’t go unnoticed. At just 15 years old, he received his first sponsorship, a pivotal moment that confirmed his potential in the world of skateboarding. Determined to pursue his dreams, Greg moved to Southern California at the age of 18, immersing himself in the heart of the skateboarding industry.

Over the years, Greg became affiliated with top skateboarding brands such as Almost Skateboards, Darkstar Skateboards, Globe Shoes, and Oakley Eyewear. His partnership with global brands like Harley Davidson and Rockstar Energy further underscored his status as a skateboarding icon.

A Trophy-Laden Career

Greg’s competitive spirit has been instrumental in his success. He is the only skateboarder to have won the Tampa Pro contest three times, a feat that cements his name in skateboarding history. His achievements also include:

  • Two X-Games Gold Medals in street skateboarding.

  • Multiple victories in the Dew Tour.

  • A long-standing dominance in World Cup Skateboarding events.

Beyond the Board

Greg’s influence extends beyond competition. He has left an indelible mark through his unforgettable video parts for brands like Almost and Darkstar Skateboards. His appearance in the United By Fate video series by Globe Shoes further showcased his creativity and passion for storytelling. Beyond skateboarding, Greg has dabbled in acting, appearing in commercials, movies, and music videos.

Not one to confine himself to a single arena, Greg ventured into the world of motorcycles with the launch of Lutzka’s Garage in 2019, combining his love for skating and high-performance motorbikes.

The Essence of Lutzka

Despite his global fame, Greg remains grounded and connected to his roots. He balances his professional life with personal interests such as snowboarding, motorcycle riding, and cherishing moments with loved ones. His story is a compelling reminder of what passion, dedication, and determination can achieve.
