About Bucky Lasek - Pro Skateboarder Profile, Biography and History

Bucky Lasek, was born Charles Michael Lasek on December the 3rd, 1972, and hails from Baltimore, Maryland, USA. His skateboarding journey began at the age of 12 after his bicycle was stolen.

Bucky caught the attention of Powell Peralta talent scouts in 1987, and they promptly sponsored him. He was featured in a 1987 publication as a 14-year-old newly-sponsored amateur who “rides a mini-Caballero with X-Bones.”

His skate video debut came in the fourth Bones Brigade skate video, Public Domain (1988).

Bucky turned pro with Powell Peralta in 1990, but unfortunately, vert skateboarding (his specialty) was losing popularity during this time, affecting his skate career. However, when vert skateboarding was included in the X Games by ESPN in the mid-1990s, Bucky’s career saw a revival. Moving from Baltimore to San Diego in 1998 further boosted his career.

Bucky has been sponsored by several skate companies throughout his career. Some of his sponsors include: Powell Peralta, Vans, Black Rifle Coffee, RDS, Independent, Protec, Bones Wheels, Boneless Pads, Bones Bearings, Titan Skate Tool, Subaru, Puma, Rockstar, GreenIssue, Indy, and Ethika

Bucky Lasek is a dominant force in vert skateboarding and has won gold medals in the ESPN X Games in 1999 and 2000.

He is known for his incredible control, and he can even land as many as three rodeo flips in a single run. His consistency and technical prowess set him apart.

In May 2012, Bucky Lasek joined Subaru Rally Team USA for the Global RallyCross Championship. He continued with the team, earning several second and third-place finishes. After the 2016 season, he left the team.

Bucky is a playable character in the first five games of the Tony Hawk’s series, including the recent remake, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.

He made a cameo in the low-budget 2003 movie Haggard, where he hands a skateboard to Bam Margera. Bucky also appeared in MTV’s reality TV series Viva La Bam and Pink’s music video for “Raise Your Glass”.
