Kryptonics Wheels was founded in 1965, and originally manufactured polyurethane products for the mining and computer industry. However, they gained fame in the mid-1970s when they introduced the Kryptonics Star Trac line of skate wheels. These wheels were groundbreaking because they were the first to offer color-coded durometers and use millimeter sizing. Kryptonics Star Trac wheels were known for their smooth ride and excellent grip. They performed well on various surfaces, from skate parks to streets, therefore becoming dominant across all types of skateboarding and terrain.

Skateboarders like Stacy Peralta, Tony Alva, Steve Alba, Micke Alba, David Hackett, Bobby Piercy, and Tommy Ryan were sponsored by Kryptonics Wheels.

From kryptonics.com"Established in 1965, Kryptonics™ is one of the most authentic brands in skateboarding and still remains an innovating force in the industry today.

Kryptonics™ changed the game in 1976 by developing the first urethane skateboard wheel, and the innovation hasn’t stopped since. Kryptonics™ now dominates the market with a lineup of complete skateboards - including cruisers, longboards, standard 31 in skatepark models and retro poly plastic “torpedo" boards.

Every detailed construction of deck, truck, bearing and wheel is considered to reach all age groups and riding styles. Kryptonics™ completes come fully assembled with grip-tape and skate hardware, make sure to adjust trucks based on skating preference and ability and remove the protective wheel cover which may be installed.

Always remember to wear skateboard protective gear (skate helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and/or wrist guards) that supports the rider’s skill level."

BRINGING BACK KRYPTONICS Episode # 1

"Dave Hackett, Jack Smith, Jim Goodrich, and Mark Richards recall the early days of Kryptonics and the wheel that helped changed skateboarding. Kryptonics Star Trac wheels, the originals since 1976." Courtesy of Kryptonics

"I got an old board from my dad with kryptonics wheels, being an old design board and too cumbersome for my small frame I just took the wheels and slapped them onto my regular skateboard whenever I was just gonna use my board for transportation. On such a day, I stopped by the local skatestore, I never really had money to buy anything, but it was fun to browse, and the store manager would always be up to chat for a bit. His eye caught a glimpse on my wheels, "are those... Kryptonics? How did you get those!". He offered me a new board for them (I had a basic printless board), but I decided to keep them since they were from my dad and also they were damn comfortable wheels to use whenever you needed to get somewhere."

"They were definitely my favorites back in the day... I had red and green.. I'm glad they're coming back"

"I had Kryptonics on my Schmitt Stix Rip Saw. That was 30 years ago."

"Respect. My dad had them back in the day. I had a pair of longboard wheels as a kid by Kryptonics... When the star trac was re released a few years ago I snatched a set of blues.. just bought 54mm greens... awesome wheels."
