About Rob Dyrdek - Pro Skateboarder Profile, Biography and History

Rob Dyrdek was born on June 28, 1974, in Kettering, Ohio, and is a multifaceted individual who has left a notable mark on skateboarding, television, and entrepreneurship.

Rob got in to skateboarding at 11 years old. He would daydream about tricks during school hours and then hit the streets as soon as the bell rang. By 15, he was already making waves through his skating, winning the National Skateboard Association North Central District competition, and at 16, he made a bold move - skipping his senior year of high school to pursue his professional skate career in sunny Southern California.

In 1991, Rob officially turned pro, competing at the Skateboard World Cup in Germany and securing a respectable fifth place.

He went on to become sponsored by Alien Workshop, a Dayton-based skateboarding company, which produced signature Dyrdek skateboards.

Droors Clothing (later known as DC Shoes) sponsored Rob, marking the beginning of a 20-year partnership. He launched his first signature shoe, the RD 1, with DC. Throughout his career, Rob had an impressive 29 signature shoe designs.

In 1999, Rob founded Dyrdek Enterprises, venturing into the business world. He also started his skateboard accessory company, Orion Trucks, at the young age of 17.

Rob’s fame skyrocketed with MTV’s reality shows:
“Rob & Big”: A heartwarming series featuring Rob and his best friend, Big Black.
“Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory”: A quirky show set in his massive indoor skatepark.
“Ridiculousness”: A viral video commentary show that became a cultural phenomenon.

Rob’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Street League Skateboarding, revolutionizing competitive skateboarding. He also established Superjacket Productions (now Thrill One Media), creating captivating content across various platforms.

Rob married Bryiana Noelle Flores in 2016, and they have two children together.
