About Chris Haslam - Pro Skateboarder Profile, Biography and History

Chris Haslam was born on December 19, 1980, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and when he was 11 years old, his family relocated to Singapore, where his interest in skateboarding ignited. Prior to his thirteenth birthday, he got his hands on his first skateboard deck from the Santa Cruz Skateboards. While in Singapore, Haslam entered a mini ramp competition, coming fourth after tying for third place with his brother.

Haslam’s first-ever magazine cover was for Concrete Powder, featuring an ollie captured at the University of British Columbia. His shaved head and stylish execution made it memorable.

After becoming pro and receiving his first pro model, Haslam described the process of designing a pro model graphic:

"I had two at the same time. One was the rocker dude, who was all white, with pink and blue and had spandex pants on and Van Halen tee ... Then there was another one—the Grizzly Haslam. My friend Mark Anderson wrote up this whole thing on why, for my first graphic, is should be the Grizzly Haslam. He made his own little graphic of this man with a bear and had all these photos of Grizzly Adams and a bear. We weren’t really feeling the board graphic on either of them so we just took one of the photos that he sent us, and it was five or 10 minutes before we had to send it in, so it was like "Shit, what are we going to do?" So we just put it on there, and we had this crazy photo of my face that we shot on there and it looked Photoshopped. I think that was one of my best boards that I ever had; it was pretty sick."

Throughout his career, Haslam has been sponsored by skate companies including: Almost, Independent Trucks, Bones Wheels, Bones Bearings, Element, Globe, and DVS.

Notable Tricks from Chris Haslam include:
Kickflip Underflip: One of Haslam’s signature tricks, the kickflip underflip involves a kickflip combined with a 360-degree spin of the board.
Nollie Inward Heelflip: A mind-bending trick where he pops the board into a heelflip rotation while riding in the nollie stance.
360 Flip Noseblunt Slide: Haslam’s technical prowess shines in this trick, combining a 360 flip with a noseblunt slide on a rail.

Apart from skating, Haslam has explored the world. From Russia to Iceland, he combines his love for travel with his passion for skateboarding, leaving his mark in foreign lands.
